Early 90′s Post-Hardcore/Grunge outfit Sunny Day Real Estate have recently gotten back together and gone on tour as a sort of bury the hatchet reunion tour. The band was a huge underground success during the Nirvana year’s of music in 1994 with their debut on Sub Pop called Diary and were probably going to blow up having they stayed together. Unfortunately their were creative differences among the members and primarily them being with lead singer Jeremy Enigk who was extremely experimental in how he created music. His very emotionally driven lyrics behind grungy hardcore but slowed down guitar riffs were what made the band’s sound and a huge Indie band early on in the music scene. The band put out one more record when they broke up but it was a mix of songs that had not been yet mastered since the band decided to part ways. Either way LP2 or “The Pink Album” was put together with only a few members of the band still deciding the finish the project. The band had a minor get together with only half the members together with the very popular and well received How It Feels Like To Be Something On but didn’t stay together for too much longer. After being a huge influence and getting more exposure in the past decade the band has recently just finished a tour and entered the studio to record their first album 15 years with the original lineup from Diary. Needless to say I am highly interested to hear what the band has progressed to since the lead singer has done a lot of odd experimental music over the years and one member has been with the Foo Fighters so the music should be interesting. Here’s there first video “Seven” from Diary, pretty cool music video for the 90′s.
