You may have read me mentioning a band I enjoy called the Gaslight Anthem a few times on this blog but I recently found out that the lead singer Brian Fallon has put out some solo work of his own. It’s not unheard of that singers for certain bands decide to just write songs that may not even fit with the band their in and decide to just put out demos of these songs. Most of the time the songs are acoustic and have a real folk style feel to them and their isn’t any difference for Brian Fallon who put out several tracks with just his voice and guitar.
Many of the songs are covers such as Springsteen’s “Backstreets” but he has also put out some originals like the fan favorite “The Blues, Mary” which many beg to be released on an album. The track is solid in that it has real figurative lyrics and is wrote in Blues fashion so it really fits his singing style as well as personality. The other tracks that you can find on the internet are “Italian Lightning” and “Tin Pan Alley” which is a gospel inspired track that he put on a split 7″ with singer Chuck Ragan so I suggest checking them out. I don’t think these songs will see the record store anytime soon since he’s recording with Gaslight Anthem right now but it’s nice to find the random demos online in the meantime.
