According to a recent tweet by Portugal the Man they will be releasing a new album entitled American Ghetto in the next few months after playing the album a few times live. This would be the band’s third album in not even two years and just shows how dedicated the band is to their music and their loyal fanbase. It’s very rare today to see a band put out albums this quickly, mostly due to contractual obligations but the band records and produces their own music and contracts out with Indie label Equal Vision for distribution. This is revolutionary in that the album has no album contract with the band but rather just it’s main distributer which allows the band almnost 100% freedom, which is something I’m sure we’ll all see a lot of in the coming years. I’m excited since I have become a huge fan of the band since Church Mouth and grown to love them more since Censored Colors and The Satanic Satanist. If you want to warm yourself up to the band choose the albums listed in reverse order to get the full effect because each album has gotten progressively better and will have you appreciate where they came from.
