NME the online music magazine, radio and newspaper has put together in their opinion the top 100 albums over the past decade.  Some are very appropriate picks while some seem to be confusing on how they even made it in the top 100 let alone the top 25.  I was excited to see some of my favorite bands make the cut such as Brand New, At The Drive-In, The Shins and The Arcade Fire to name a few.  It’s not that I have anything against the White Stripes but to have two of their albums be back to back in the top 25 is a little ridiculous to me and I get their originality and that Jack White is a superior musician but I don’t understand how any legitimate Top 100 list of a decade is going to place two of their albums together like that.  Even more importantly is no Modest Mouse album?  Are they kidding?  They have Green Day’s American Idiot but they don’t have one of the three Modest Mouse albums from the past decade.  Interesting NME, who did you list Justin Beiber?  Oh no, I forgot his list is going to be made fun of tomorrow.

Besides some of it’s many flaws, some of the highlights of the list are the top 10 such as Radiohead’s In Rainbow’s which for some insane reason I still haven’t found time to listen to even though I heard it’s lovely and Interpol’s Turn On The Bright Lights which was my jam back in my Sophmore year in college.  I was ecstatic to see The Arcade Fire’s Funeral made it at number 7 since it’s probably one of the better albums of the decade and in my opinion probably should of made the top 3.  Some of the other top ten I didn’t really recognize but the number 1 was The Stokes This Is It which I found a little odd because I feel it is a really good album and great for the early decade but not really worthy of number 1 status. The link is below so feel free to check out the other albums that made the top 100 and criticize below.
