Halloween is such a great holiday and it’s just a reason to get fat off candy as a kid and party in costume as a adult. Either way it’s a religious holiday going all the way back to early Christian times in celebration of all the saints who have passed away. It literally translates into All Hallow’s Eve and mostly means All Saint’s Day and was started to worship all the dead saint’s to make sure they rest in peace. All the other rituals came in time but the original essence of the holiday is religious and it even goes back to the Pagan’s in celebration of the fall season.
One of my favorite band’s to listen to this time of year is The Misfits, who made an impact on the music industry by being the original pop punk band and singing about horror. Most of their songs are very simplistic and can take awhile to get what they were doing but if you really look deep into the songs and how original they were for the time you can’t help but scream out the “woah oh’s” during the chorus of their songs. They have influenced various bands today such as Metallica, Rob Zombie, AFI, Fall Out Boy, Pantera and My Chemical Romance and Glenn Danzig the singer for the Misfits has been very successful with his band Danzig since the Misfits broke up. I figured I would be festive and post a popular Misfits song that has been covered many a times and post the song “Halloween” below.
