There is this great local band out on the scene now called 6 Day Bender that has been playing up and down the east coast for the past year in support of their recent album. I was fortunate enough to check them out this winter at the Brick Wall Tavern in Asbury Park during their tour and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the originality of the band’s sound. Most bands are trying to do that Fall Out Boy sound or sound like some classic rock sound that died out a long time ago. 6 Day Bender has their own sound of rock n roll infused with blue grass and folk rock and really brings it every time they play live. I have heard their recorded songs on the cd and have to say most of their live renditions hit pretty close to home.
They aren’t some local bar playing band either considering they have done several tours throughout the year and have recently just got done playing Floyd Fest on the stage geared towards up and coming acts. I suggest this band for anybody who are fans of The Grateful Dead, Modest Mouse, William Elliot Whitmore and even The Gaslight Anthem for that rock sound blended in. I hope to see them make it sometime soon and will be happy to hear more of their songs as time moves on and encourage anybody reading this to check out the links to their sites below to find their tour dates. Check out the song “Devil Let’s You Dance” while your at, its rockin hill billy fun.
Look them up on Facebook as well to interact with the band.
