Just doing a little recap of some music news of some bands that I like that are making changes or putting out new material. Brand New is a band that I became really fond of when they released their last album The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me because they made a huge departure from their two previous emo releases by going towards a more dark indie rock sound. The album is fucking amazing and definately in my top ten records of all time so if you haven’t checked it out yet, try and pick it up. Anyway their finally set a release date for their new album entitled Daisy and it will hit stores September 22nd. The artwork is below and is very dark and mysterious looking just like the devil and god album so I’m expecting the lyrics to be very ominous.
Onto other news and I hate to be biased as hell talking about Modest Mouse again but I absolutely loved Heath Ledger as Skip in Lords of Dogtown and obviously as the Joker in The Dark Knight but I couldn’t be more excited to finally see the video he did for Modest Mouse’s “King Rat” finally surface. The song is another perfect example of how broad the band’s range is musically and the fact that this song is a B-Side is ridiculous, they play this song everytime I’ve seen them live. Apparantly Heath was a huge fan of the band and a close friend to Isaac Brock so it’s pretty cool to see the trippy finished product. A bunch of sea creatures on a boat fishing for other sea creatures while singing along is something you actually think about while listening to their recent material. It’s a shame a talent like him had to die young and so tragically but it seems like the best always leave early, unfortunately. I added the video below for your viewing pleasure and on an ending note I would like to know if the press is ever gonna stop reporting that Michael Jackson is dead and interviewing random people who knew him.
