I can’t stop listening to all the Dredg albums and it makes me so amped for the new one which I still haven’t had a chance to purchase. For anyone not familiar with Dredg they are a prog/alt rock band from California who have been influential on a lot of newer bands this day and age. They put out their first album in 1998 called Leitmotif when they were just 18. The sound is a little different from what they are today but it’s a solid concept album about a guy who comes down with a social disease in his soul so he travels to all parts of the world searching for a cure to what ails him. The next album El Cielo came out 4 years later and is what the band sounds like more today. More chill and ambient and progressive style guitar riffs but also still a concept album about a man suffering from sleep paralysis and what he encounters during it. What is even more sick about this album is it supposedly matches up perfectly with the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Haven’t tried it out yet but if it is anything like Darkside and Wizard of Oz together then I’ll have to Netflix that movie again soon. Their next album Catch Without Arms is their break through and what really sets them apart from most bands. Also a concept album about each song being opposites and really progressive as far as song production and the band’s style of playing. Their newest album which I believe came out yesterday and can’t wait to pick up is The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion and I can’t give any details on this until I pick it up so that will be my first review probably. My name is Brent and I will be writing things more controversial soon but for now check this band out.
